Welcome Rachel!

Rachel2

The FVC team is very excited to welcome back Rachel van der Reest.

Rachel is a recent addition to the FVC permanent team, following completion of a four-month internship with us throughout spring 2024. Her outstanding contributions throughout her internship determined her appointment to her new permanent position.

Rachel completed her Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Biology at Murdoch University in late 2024, with her graduation making it official earlier this month.  Her studies and internship built on her experience gained in a range of volunteer positions completed over the past several years, that has provided Rachel with a well-rounded understanding of conservation, field research, consulting methodologies and environmental stewardship.  Rachel’s experience in the field has include conducting detailed and targeted flora and vegetation assessments, and fauna surveys including turtle tagging and collection, and recording and tagging of bees for a research project.

Rachel’s passion for Western Australia’s flora and fauna and ecosystem protection, conservation and restoration make her a great fit and a valuable addition to the FVC team.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her dog, snorkelling, and bushwalking. She is also passionate about orchid hunting and enjoys lively board game nights with her friends.

Warmest of welcomes to you, Rachel!
